After waking up, I became more and more aware of the damaged caused from the night before. I walked around my house making mental notes of all the areas that needed cleaning up, trying to figure out a suitable approach to make sure everything was tidy before my parents returned home in the next three hours. From my job selling mobile water tanks, I had some experience with cleanup operations, but this was going to require real graft. While I was downstairs, after walking passed various stains - blood, vomit, beer - I noticed my friend sleeping on my couch. He helped create the mess - he can help to clean it up. I woke him up and explained the situation, whilst subtly assigning tasks for him to complete. We began work in separate areas, I was in charge of picking up any litter, including beer cans, bottles, bottle caps and glasses. Meanwhile, he was tasked to clean up any spills or stains. I picked up close to 300 cans and bottles and put them in multiple garbage bags - later to be recycled. Many of the cans needed to be cleaned out first, and so the majority of my time was taken up rinsing out the cans before putting them in the garbage bag. After I had picked up the majority of the mess, my friend helped to clean up and polish the tables and clean the floor. Once this was complete, we vacuumed the entire house - even the rooms we hadn't been in. |
